Balloon Shooting Educational Game

May 27, 2015

Here is a game I have made using Storyline 2. The aim of the game is to shoot the correct balloons which will reward a point and avoid shooting the incorrect ones which will deduct a point.

To demonstrate the game I have used French colours however the file could easily be modified to suit another subject such as matching chemical symbols with the right chemical or practising mental maths.

To get the gun animation I have added 8 different states which will change when the mouse hovers over a certain area of the screen. For the reloading animation I have used a motion path which will play whenever the number of bullets is 8,6,4 or 2. And I have added a layer which prevents the mouse from clicking on the base layer when the reload animation is happening.

I have had to use 10 versions of the shoot audio because if the user clicks twice in quick succession with only one shoot audio file then the shooting sound would only play once. So every time the variable shots changes a different version of the same audio will play.

Hi Jordan,

Thanks for sharing this creative language e-learning example! I got 9/10. I would've gotten 10/10, but I wasn't quick enough on the last one where you had to hit 2 balloons.

The only thing I would suggest is maybe telling learners how many different "questions" there are, so they have a frame of reference for the points.
