Best Conditions to use when controlling advancing in a course

Feb 09, 2017

Hey!

I'm fairly new to Storyline, and am working on some courses for my job. I train new hires in a contact center and want them to be able to practice listening to a call while navigating the different buttons on the script. I used a screen record for the script, since I did not have any way to import it into my project. I set it up so that when they click on the correct answer selection, the screen record continues on the next slide. I split up the audio for each question onto each slide so that they would not hear it until they made their selection. My condition is currently set that it will "Jump to next slide When the media completes if Picture 1 (the shape over the hotspot for that question) is equal to normal." This works seamlessly if the learner is paying attention and clicking the answer selections promptly. The problem is if the media completes and they have not chosen an answer selection, then it will not advance to the next slide when they do.  I set the "when media completes" b/c I do not want them to advance forward before hearing the whole question/answer. However, I do not want to add too much time to the end of the media timeline b/c the conversation will sound choppy. Please tell me there is a better variable option to accomplish this task.

Hey there Cristina!

So glad to hear that your diving right into Storyline! It'll be a little easier for me to assist here if I can take a closer look at your setup. Would you mind sharing your .story project file? You can add it as an attachment right to a comment in this thread or if you'd prefer, you can share it privately with me by way of this form. Thanks!
