Best way to achieve an instructor-led walkthrough of a flow chart?

Jan 06, 2015

Hi all,

I'm using Storyline 2 for both eLearning and instructor led presentations.  Basically we want to have the option for both types of courses and so I am leveraging Articulate as the basis for both.  One of my slides is a flowchart. For the eLearning version, I use the timeline coupled with audio to show one piece at a time until the entire flow is displayed.  I'm struggling with how to show this as instructor-led.  What makes the most sense I think is that the person leading the presentation can just click next each time they are ready to show the next piece of the flow, and it appears just like a normal powerpoint animation would.  They would talk about each piece before moving on to the next checkpoint in the flow.  How do I accomplish this?

Thanks!!

Sarah

Hi Sarah. If I'm understanding you correct, you're planning to have two Storyline project files - one for the e-learning audience and an Instructor-led version? If I'm following you correctly, the instructor-led version is very simple to create.

As you've suggested, you can design this to behave much like it would in PowerPoint. There are many ways to do this, but the simplest is to segment your flowchart image across multiple slides in Storyline. To segment the flowchart image, you can use Storyline's image formatting feature to crop it to the area the Instructor needs to cover for that slide. When the instructor is done with that segment they would simply click the next button to advance to the next slide with the next image image segment until the entire flowchart is covered.

So rather than one slide with a series of animations in PowerPoint, you'd have a series of slides each with a different segment of your flowchart.

Hope I've helped, but be sure to let us know if you need any more ideas!

Cheers,

Trina
