Cause of delay at beginning of slide when playing on LMS?
May 22, 2012
Hi, heroes:
So I uploaded my course onto the Cornerstone LMS, and on some of the slides (generally the longer ones (3 to 4 minutes), but not always) there is a few seconds' delay before it starts to play. This happens more frequently after a single question quizzmaker quiz.
And occasionally, a slide even freezes up, though I can get it to unfreeze by hitting the backward button and then moving forward. Then the slide plays beautifully, as if to say "what me? I wasn't doing anything wrong"?
The course contains about 115 slides and 1.75 hours of audio, if that makes any difference.
Any advice on how to minimize these delays are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Daniel

My guess I'd that the content is buffering. There are a lot of variables...firewalls, server types and speeds, etc. Any and all of these things can impact how a course plays.
Thanks, Justin. It may be a combination of a few of my large audio files and my internet speed. What exactly does "content buffering" mean -- that it's "loading"? Thanks again.
I have the same problem. It typically occurs more often on my courses if a user jumps ahead to a slide that has not "buffered" yet. But...Yes, that basically means it is still loading.
Thanks, Gina. I can see how that would be a problem if they learner is jumping around.
