I want to know how the color of font and shape is changing in the layer (with the click on shape). I may sound novice, but I am really looking for the answer.

The icons are grouped with the oval shapes. Select Item 01 in the timeline and expand the group. You'll see 2 items: Oval 01 and Label 01. Select Oval 01 and then click the States tab and you'll see the colored ovals for hover and selected.
