I am using Storyline 2 and have created a list of items I need the learner to visit on a page. Treating it as a to do list on various pages. I have the items on different slides/layers.
I want the object to change to visited (and stay that way) to provide the learner with a visual of how much is done/still to go.
The visited state also triggers the "return to main menu" button to changes from hidden to normal when all the items on the list are visited.
However, the object is not changing the state to visited - or maybe it is and is changing back to normal when I return to the page.
I like to create a true/false variable for each visited area which work from a trigger "return to main menu".
On the main slide I place a trigger that says " when the slide starts if variable A is true adjust state of object Q to normal. This way every time you return to the slide it checks the variable and adjusts Q to normal.
Dane is right. The visited state is most reliable on one page, but once you start visiting other pages, it isn't so stable. Variables only change if you write a trigger to change them, so you can always predict their activity.

Make sure the slide properties of the menu slide are set to Resume Saved State.
