Does anyone have an idea (or currently using one) to notify learners that they completed the training/course and exit? Rise courses just kind of...end. Yes there is the 'exit course' button but that is kind of hard to find and other than adding a 'Congrats you finished' block in there, has anyone come up with any good ideas/ways to do this?
I tend to add an interactive button block that exits the course, and I title it "Exit Course". This only ever appears on the very bottom of the last page of the course after the learner clicks the Continue block above it. When clicked, the learner sees a simple text Exit page - the text is customizable in Rise in the Labels menu (in Settings).
We never had a complaint either. It's just, we noticed that our LMS kinda hides the Rise 'exit course' button just due to formatting when it opens a SCORM, so I was wondering what tricks the community has used to navigate around this. Thanks for your input Karl.
Fortunately we do not have the same problem in our LMS, where the Exit course link is always displayed visibly in the top right-hand corner.
We also have a very brief overview/Rise orientation course that gets assigned to all of our learners, that explains the Rise and LMS fundamentals, but only 30% of learners actually take it (it's an optional not for credit course.)
Instead of always including the exit link top right, I put a small note in the bottom of the details page for my courses saying if they exit the window, their progress will be saved. Our LMS opens the SCORM in a separate window so exiting at any time is easy.
We decided to use the interactive button block as the ending so that the learners get to see some sort of Exit message indicating the course is truly over. Agreed that most learners don't need as much hand-holding as the designers input into the courses, but I do like an ending (something) when I'm taking a course, and I think the interactive button works pretty well for that in my case.
I will say: if I'm letting the learner jump around, the button doesn't work because I don't know where in the course they will be once they complete it. Luckily most of my courses have the lesson path on lockdown.
Ah, makes sense. I see why you wouldn't do an ending in your case, Karl.
I've had the same issue as Rory - using the toggle-on Exit Course Link for some reason overlaps my content and is hard to see. Since I don't really need it in my use-case, I just toggle it off.
We decided not to have our SCORM packages open in a new window. After some testing/focus group stuff, we found that it was giving us less engagement than opening in the LMS window. A lot of really great ideas here thanks for sharing.

We have never had a single complaint from one of our learners about not knowing that they have completed a Rise course.
Rise courses provide ample visual cues when a part of the course (or the entire course) has been completed.
Learners require less prompting than course designers realize.
Oh this is a good idea. Thanks for sharing!

If we turn on Exit Course Link in Rise before publish, "Exit Course" appears on every page of the course.
All of our courses use Navigation Mode: Free so the sidebar is always open.
As our learners can attempt the course in any order of their choosing, they could achieve overall course completion in any lesson.
So having something at the "end" does not work for us.
