Create a (fun) Career Development eLearning

Dec 14, 2016

Hello, does anyone have any ideas on concepts to make a Career Development eLearning more engaging?  I have a few items that need to be incorporated (options, methodology, etc.) but I want to make it more engaging than just info/click forward/info...

I was thinking of incorporating the concept of the game 'Chutes & Ladders' but haven't fully thought it out yet....

Any ideas???

Tania,

One way I've seen this done is to identify all of the career dev "paths" someone might take - next level vs sideways vs stay and grow vs decelerate etc  and why someone might want to walk that path (hint: all are good choices)

Then briefly identify the typical kinds of activities one engages in to further their career - stretch projects vs education vs expanding functional expertise vs brushing up on basics vs job shadowing etc

Then you can play with the pieces in different ways including matching best fit activities for certain paths, building your own career dev plan of activities, etc

Hope this helps!

Hi Tania,

I am just about to start designing an eCareer tool for my office and was thinking about using the  Chutes and Ladders actually. I was searching it on elearning heroes and came upon this thread. Pls. let me know if you ended up using this theme and would be interested in sharing some ideas with each other.

Thanks!

Hi Lisa,

Actually we decided to go in another direction. That being said, I totally think the chutes and ladders idea would be a great way to talk about career development.

Best of luck.

Tania
