Creating ******* to replace text in a password

Jan 23, 2017

Hi,

Im creating a user guide for an application that my company has built. I have set up it so the user is interacting and logging in. When they enter their password on the screen that they choose, is it possible to just characters like ******* to display. Although its only an interaction I would rather people not display their common used password on screen. Hope that makes sense?

Hi Dave,

Yes I am Storyline 2. Just to confirm, I have added an attachment. I have a text entrybox on both of the blank password fields. When the user enters the password i dont want the password to be displayed on screen. Ideally just want the characters to be replaced with ***********

You think a flash snippet could do this?

Do you also know if its possible to change the font / text size in a text entrybox? At the moment the font continues to default to opensans 15 even though i keep changing it.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Hi Nicholas,

I tried to figure out a way to do that, and couldn't figure out a way with the current tools. That's why I suggested a flash snippet. If you are publishing to a flash file, then the flash snippet would be the way to go. Yes, it would work, and I did one once,  sometime back. but I was with another employer, and don't have the file anymore. Pretty much what you end up doing is creating a custom input box that only displays the "*" character while your user types, and then returns the value to a variable. If you are publishing to HTML5, then the best method would probably be a javascript hack.
