Custom Submit buttons and multiple attempts

Hey guys... I was hoping you could provide a little insight here.

RE: Storyline 2

Here is the scenario:

1. I have a custom submit button for a quiz question. The trigger is set to submit the interaction when the user clicks the button.

2. The user has two attempts at the quiz question before they move to the next slide.

How can I configure the trigger to move the user to the next slide if they get the question correct OR after they attempt the question twice?

Right now, they are taken to the next slide after the first click due to a trigger I have set "jump to next slide when user clicks" placed right after the "submit interaction x when the user clicks"

Any ideas? I thought about using a variable and condition..go to next slide if they have clicked the custom submit button twice. Unfortunately, that would not work... if they got the question right the first time, it would force them to click Submit again.

Thanks for any tips fellow eLearning Heroes!

You've got the right idea, you just need to go a bit deeper.

You could have a true/false variable that changes to true when they get the answer correct and a number variable that counts how many attempts they have made.

Have the submit button follow logic along the lines of:

  • If true/false variable is true, go to next slide.
  • If true/false variable is false and number of attempts is 1, show retry message
  • If true/false variable is false and number of attempts is 2, go to next slide.

Does that help?
