Delete uneeded scenes vs. import needed scenes into new .story file

We have a Storyline "starter kit" .story file which has several scenes containing various techniques (closed captions, etc.), slide masters, variables, standard slides, and other things to be used when developing new courses.
The way we use it is to open the starter kit, then "save as" with a new file name, and develop the course.
When the course is ready to be published, which of the following is the better practice and why? Is it better to delete all of the scenes from the starter kit then save and publish the project? Or is it better to save it, create a new Storyline project, and then import from that saved project only those scenes that are needed for the course?

I would personally prefer to import only the content that you need into your new file. When deleting content from your .story project, the file size temporarily remains the same so that you can "undo" your actions and recover the content. It takes another step of saving, closing and reopening the file to see the file size decrease. Avoiding deletion of unnecessary content will save some room in your memory.
Here's a nifty article on working with templates in Storyline.
Thank you, Crystal.
Also, I found with Storyline 1 (maybe this was fixed in Storyline 2) that when deleting or moving slides and/or scenes, sometimes the linkages between slides and scenes got scrambled, and many slides had to be manually re-linked to the correct previous and next slides.
Ah, yes. You can customize the navigation to fit your course, so you'll want to be sure to check the triggers on those slides to make sure they navigate to the proper slide/scene. That behavior would be expected if there are pre-existing navigation triggers on those slides.
