Design Question

Sep 01, 2015

Hello Community,

I am currently designing a course from a PowerPoint deck that has a one line footer of information.

There is debate that images should not go over the footer.  In some cases, images will animate over the footer and during scenario base instances the footer will not show at all (which is okay).   I am torn if I should remove the footer completely or if I should just adjust my images.

My question is, in designing is it really bad for an image to overlay a footer?

Thanks community!

Protocol in most companies I've worked with is as follows....

  1. Place the footer on all slides in the smallest/least obtrusive way possible
  2. NEVER partially cover the footers (typically the company / unit branding) with an image
  3. So, if a required graphic would partially cover the footer, then remove the footer from that slide only  (ie create two master slide layouts - with and without to use as needed)

Hope this helps!
