Difference between "Draw questions randomly" and "Include in Shuffle- Randomly"?

Apr 07, 2015

What is the difference between "Draw questions randomly" and "Include in Shuffle- Randomly". These appear as options in the Question Bank. At first I thought they were the same but I noticed that the checkbox on the left can be selected while the option on the right can be changed separately when you clicked on it to Always, Randomly, or Never.

Hi Michael!

Thanks for posting your question.

I hope I can clarify for you... the Randomly option in the "Include in Shuffle" column only works if the "Draw Questions randomly" option is checked.

Tha means you can either have your draw be random, and you can select on a question by question basis if you want each question to be random, always appear or never appear.  Or, you can deselect the "Draw Questions Randomly" option, which means your questions will appear in the order listed in the bank, and then only the "Never" and "Always" options will apply. The randomly option only applies when it's a randomized question bank.

"...deselect the "Draw Questions Randomly" option, which means your questions will appear in the order listed in the bank, and then only the "Never" and "Always" options will apply."

This is useful if you have a Draw and want just a fixed subset of its questions. For example, to set up a fixed quiz of 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 in a 10-question Draw, turn off Draw Questions Randomly, then set Questions 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 to Always and the others to Never.

You end up with a quiz that is presented in a fixed order, using just a subset of the Draw's questions, without having to delete questions, or create a new Draw, or set up the questions outside the Draw.
