Just as a heads up for people running into a similar issue in Storyline (v3.13.15006.0)
I was using the drag & drop triggers (instead of using freeform D&D), my drop items (8 total) were sticking to the mouse cursor when dropped on the dropzones (8 total)
It turned out that because I had grouped the drop targets they would stick, so when I ungrouped them it seemed to solve the problem!
