Editing .mov files

I recently received some .mov files that I need to edit slightly. Since Movie Maker doesn't support .mov, I tried using Format Factory to convert them to a supportable file format. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working. Format Factory only converts the first 1-2 seconds and drops the rest of the video.
Any advice on freeware that will allow me to either convert or edit the files?
Thanks!

Hi Kim! What kind of edits do you need to make? For small changes such as trimming the video or adjusting volume, you could use Articulate's Video Encoder. It comes free with Articulate Studio, so perhaps you already have it?
Thanks Jeanette. I found the freeware Any Video Converter from another source. It was able to successfully convert the files to .wmv for me.
Oh cool! Glad to hear you're all set, and thanks for sharing that link - might be something others find useful too. Have a great weekend!
