Elearning Graphic Designer looking for work

Jan 02, 2014

Hello! I am a graphic designer who has worked in elearning development for about ten years for clients that include the US Government.

I am currently looking for work (contract, FT, PT). Does anyone know of a company looking for a graphic designer?

Thanks,

M

Michele,

I think it would help if you could provide links to your portfolio of work.

So - are you looking for people who need graphic design in their eLearning?

Not sure the "Freelance Heroes" thread is really the place for this, as it is more of a "seeking work" post rather than the Heroes Thread which is more of a Hints and Tips for Freelancers thread.

Good luck in your search.

Maybe a 'Seeking Work' thread needs to be started then.

I think a "Seeking work" thread would encourage people just to come here for one reason.

These forums have always tried to have an approach that says "Come here, participate, and the rewards will come".

This has been discussed a few times, and the people who give, usually receive.

@Bruce.

I've already seen many examples of people posting 'searching for work' posts. I'm not saying that they would be successful without giving to the overall community and participating.

But it would be a place for them to go to rather then start threads or posts focused only on finding work. Which can be annoying with some of the direct style advert posts I've seen. This thread is not one of them..

It all depends on the Articulate Community management. They do monitor this situation and I did ask previously about it.

I'll just focus on contributing and assisting as best I can and leave it with them.

Thanks, Nicholas. We've recently started curating all the job offers  in  a weekly blog post. Mike's doing an amazing jobs pulling together the job posts both from these forums as well as from external sources and recruiters: http://community.articulate.com/blogs/taylor/archive/2014/01/10/-elearning-training-and-instructional-design-jobs-20140110.aspx Mike posts a new recap every Friday. I'd love to know your thoughts on what Mike's doing.

One challenge is that posted jobs fill up quickly--usually in a day or two--that a dedicated forum could be more confusing. But that's where your ideas can really help. Please take some time to let us know how you'd like to see a job forums to work. There's a lot of work in our industry so we know there are some ways we can help connect users with employers.

Regarding giving back, the forums will always be the best place to share your ideas, freebies, and published demos. Articulate does a great job highlighting and promoting its users. I can't tell you how many times folks have told us they got contract work after sharing their demos or free templates.

David--I've run across Mike's post about the job listings and I was in AWE of how much time he must spend putting that together. HUGE kuddos to him.

I think a job forum could be fabulous. I have my current job because of ASTD's job board, so it is a fabulous resource for our industry. This website is also such a great place for companies to find great talent.

Perhaps to curtail the issue of out-dated posts, request that the original poster come back to let everyone know the position has been filled and/or maybe have a feature that expires a post after a week or two?
