I've done a search but all of the results all four or five years old and considering how much screen quality has improved in that time I don't know how valid the old threads are. What size are people building in these days? We had been at 960x540 but I'm starting to get complaints from users that screen captures are soft and blurry.
with updates to desktop hardware, laptops and mobile devices I have gone to full 1920 x 1080. We do a lot of screen capture of our product both for demo videos and simulations. At lower resolutions it is tough to see.
I agree with Matt. Full HD produces the best results. However I have run into issues when outputting HTML into an LMS. Setting the output to scale works well, but the results can be jumpy, so if your client insists on keeping the product locked into an LMS be sure to find out what the optimum resolution is for the LMS and produce at that size for best results.
