eLearning Strategy

Oct 26, 2011

Hi,

I have been asked to come up the eLearning strategy for our group.......

Has anyone had experience with this and can anyone give me any tips?

Much appreciated!

Simon is right. This is a big question that carries with it a payload of smaller questions.

For format and intent, this example might be useful.

Here are a few other resources to help you get started:

Populating the LearnScape: e-Learning as Strategy (Clark Quinn, 2009)

The eLearning Guild also offers a handbook on e-learning strategy. Unfortunately, their site seems to be sick at the moment. When it comes back up, you can grab this PDF handbook here. I'll try to attach this one here if it'll go up (big file).

Hi Steve,

Thank for the links  you have provided.  I especially liked The eLearning Guild's Handbook of E-Learning Strategy.

Could anyone share with me an Instructional Strategy or Blueprint they have developed for an e-Learning course?  What has your experience been like?  Any recommendations or tips that you would suggest for developing the strategy or blueprint?

Thank your for your insight.

Regards,

Helena

Hi Penny,

I've been involved in developing elearning guidelines and strategy for development teams and companies. You can end up with a very long document!

I'd suggest keeping it flexible and relevant - maybe use an internal wiki so that updates and reviews are easy to do. What is the purpose of writing the document? If you want something that you can use and apply to projects think about how you can make it relevant to all your stakeholders - internal and external. If you don't have a strategy it can be a good place to deliver some business/process improvement.

I wrote a blog post about some of the considerations that you can read here:

I hope this helps,

Scott
