ELH Challenge Threads - Tougher to Navigate and Interact?

Oct 23, 2014

As much as I love the look and feel of the new ELH site (and that's a lot) I'm afraid there's one area near and dear to my heart that just got a lot tougher to use - and that's the ELH Challenge threads.

I'm so accustomed to being able to fly in at least 5 times a day, quickly scroll down the thread to see who has posted, who has commented, which entries I've already commented on, and which ones I still need to check out - and now it's quite laborious to make all that happen.

Whose entries have I already seen and commented on? Did I miss anyone earlier? Here...let me slowly page back through 7 pages - scrolling each individual page - trying to keep track of everything I want to say and everyone I want to say it to - before I finally go back to the end page where I can leave my comments.

There's no way I can do that 5+ times a day. I couldn't even bring myself to do it once today. Just takes too much time.

What do my fellow challengees think?

By the way - now that I've had more time to look at the Challenge threads, the "Reply" option will be great since it enables direct responses and means I don't have to navigate to the end of the thread to respond to someone anymore. That's incredibly cool!

That combined with getting as many comments as possible on the page (fingers crossed for infinite scroll!) would be outstanding.

I agree Jackie, all for the infinite scroll! It takes a LOT longer to get through everything when you have multiple pages... and if you want to come back later and look at a particular entry again, it's near impossible to remember on which page it was, so page after page again.

New ELH, overall though, excellent!

Hey Jackie, I might be daft, but I can't figure out how to access the Challenge threads. I was trying to access the threads for Challenge 21 because I have an example I want to post but could not figure it out. I found the Challenge itself but no links to the comments. Help me obi wan kenobi.

I'm so excited you asked me this, Nancy: A challenge to figure out how to post to a challenge!

I know you successfully found #21 -but just in case it helps anyone else, the whole list of challenges is right here. (Well it only goes up to #50 at the moment, but I'm sure it'll get updated. Today's challenge will be #56.)

Clicking on the hyperlinked text under the image for the challenge you want takes you to the thread. Scroll allllll the way down and you can add your comment/entry.

Maybe you were stopping at the Related Content bar? That shaded bar keeps making me think I'm at the bottom of the page, so I stop scrolling. I think I was having the same perplexing issue yesterday trying to figure out where to enter comments.

I hope that helps! Can't wait to see your new example. :)
