Emailing Data from Storyline
May 02, 2019
I've created a game for our local ATD that is designed to increase member engagement. We don't have an LMS. My best idea to get the data from Storyline is to use javascript to email it. I found instructions on how to do that here: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/javascript-and-email but I haven't tried it yet.
My goal is to get the name and email of the players and get a notice when they level up. The only way i can think of to do this is with the javascript. As i understand it, there are difficulties with using email. If the player doesn't have their email host set up or they use gmail or something similar, it won't work. The only work around i can see is to provide the email address so that they can manually enter the data and email it.
Does anyone have a better idea?

You could save to a google sheet, and could even load data from the google sheet
Ohh, tell me more! We have a google account. Is it like what Brian Batt is demonstrating here: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/recording-user-s-name-and-email-address#73694
What do you mean by "load data"?
thanks Phil! I look forward to your reply!
The Google Sheet option is really good. I followed the info shown here to do it previously: https://blogs.articulate.com/rapid-elearning/simple-way-track-courses-without-lms/
