Embed AICC URL in a SCO

Aug 20, 2020

Hello All,

I mainly work on the LMS side of things (Cornerstone).  Our company is looking at a vendor, Kaltura, to create/host interactive videos.  The vendor is able to provide a AICC URL to the video, however not a zipped file that can be loaded into the LMS.

The vendor has told me that the AICC URL needs to be embedded in a SCO. Our LMS doesn't allow me to make SCO.  To me that means we are going to need to publish either a zipped AICC file or zipped SCORM file out of Storyline.

Is this possible to embed a AICC URL in a SCO?

How can I help our internal Instructional Designers understand what I am asking for so we can move forward with testing?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Could you perhaps use something like this free tool? This can convert any HTML content into a SCORM file. You might have to create an HTML page with your AICC link, since you have to have a file. This just puts the SCORM "wrapper" around your file, so your file can be anything.

Alternatively, maybe you could create a 1 slide Storyline file with a single big button in the middle, with the trigger pointing to your AICC URL. Then, you could publish that as a SCORM file.

After speaking with a friend who uses Rise, I believe this is the answer to this question about how to embed a URL in a SCO.  As I said, I am on the LMS side of things and don't have access to any Articulate tool, so I will use the pictures he provided.

  • He went to the multimedia section and the selected iframes.
  • He then pasted in a Kaltura URL.
  • It looks like the Kaltura video then played inside the Rise module.

I asked the original question on here on how to embed a URL in a SCO.  I didn't get an answer.  A friend of mine said that he figured it out and was successful in getting the Kaltura provided AICC URL in to a RISE course.  I figured I would come back and post the answer to try an help others who may have this need in the future as I asked quite a few people, including the vendor, and no one was sure what to do with the Kalutra AICC links that needed to be embedded in a SCO to work.
