Embedding link to on-line course
Jun 22, 2016
Hello,
I have a client who has adopted an LMS and routinely uses an on-line interactive course to meet a training requirement. From the LMS, I can link to that website, however, it will automatically show the learner has completed the course once they have selected the link. As a convoluted work around, I thought that I would embed the course within a Storyline course so the course would show as complete once the Storyline "course" was complete. Is this even a thing? I embedded the url as a web object and the link worked when I tested it. However, once I publish the Storyline course, I get a white screen. What am I doing wrong? The URL that I am working with is : http://www.vawnet.org/elearning/DVBasics/player.html (We are doing this with permission)

Hi Lorie!
Thanks for posting your question here, sorry you've run into this issue. We just tested this on our end with SCORM Cloud and we also got the blank white slide in the web object. We've logged this as a bug on our end. In the meantime, making the web object "display in a new browser window" should allow this to work for you. Hope this helps - don't hesitate to shout out with additional questions!

Thank you for taking the time to test my issue!
If I select in a new browser window, when will the course be marked complete? Once they come back to Storyline and finish the next slides?
Lorie
You're very welcome, Lorie.
The course will be marked as complete either one of two ways, which are set under the Publish properties window:
The completion can be set either based on the number of slides they've viewed in the course, or it can be tracked with a result slide.
Nicole,
I apologize for asking so many questions! I understand how to set the reporting. My questions is if the URL opens in a new window, how do I prevent the learner from then simply clicking to the next slide and never viewing the content that opened in the new window. I am suspecting that triggers will not work. This is why I was attempting to have the content open within Storyline.
