Experience with the Wacom Cintiq 13HD Pen Display?

Apr 29, 2014

Hi everyone,

I'm contemplating investing in a graphics tablet and I keep leaning towards the Cintiq 13HD by Wacom. Has anyone used this, or know of someone that has?

Any thoughts about getting a tablet with a that has a screen versus the others that require you to look at monitor while you draw?

Any insight is much appreciated - thanks!

Hi Michael!

You may have already seen it, but Tim Slade got some general opinions about drawing tablets, including Wacoms, recently here: http://community.articulate.com/forums/p/42827/231880.aspx#231880

And you may have also seen we talked a little bit about the direct screen vs monitor issue recently here (and Tim shows the Wacom he ended up with): http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/47980.aspx

I'm sure you'll get some good advice!

Hi Jackie!

Thanks for your response and pointing me to those two  other threads. I did see both of them  before posting my question, and they both helped me narrow down what I'm looking for.

What I'm looking for is a device that I can use as an extension of both my work computer and personal machines when working in Adobe CS programs, Storyline, etc. With that in mind, it doesn't appear that something like an iPad/Android/Windows tablet would fit that need since my company blocks any cloud service that I use - so sketching and syncing to my work PC isn't an option. They also have a strict anti-BYOD when it comes to the WIFI network in the office.

All of that considered, that's why I'm leaning towards the Cintiq 13HD so that I can interface directly with whatever machine I'm working on.

As for the direct screen vs monitor quesiton - it just appears that having the direct screen would be easier to use than having to interpret what you do on a tablet while looking at a screen. Just wondered if anyone could confirm or provide insight into that hunch.

Thanks again!
