Feedback requested...how can we create or translate our English courses into Spanish?

Dec 07, 2022

I'm tasked with translating (or building) the courses we create using any of our Articulate products into Spanish. Since I don't speak Spanish this is a hurdle that I could use your feedback on.  Does Articulate have such a feature? Or is there a stand-alone translation product that works well and seamlessly with Articulate products?

Here's the User Guide info about translating text:

For the actual translating, you'll need to hire a translation company.

  • You could use a company that simply translates the text in the file exported from your English course. You would then have to import the translated file, as well as change the player's Text Labels (refer to the above link).
  • Some companies handle both the translation and the needed changes in Storyline.

Caveat: Do your research before hiring anyone. I've heard stories of translators who simply put the text into Google Translate. You could do that yourself—and get the same mostly-okay-but-sometimes-completely-wrong translations.

Ideally, if your company has native Spanish speakers, it'd be a good extra step to have one or two of them review the translated course. That's especially helpful if it includes industry- and/or company-specific jargon.

(Sorry, but I don't have any specific companies to recommend.)
