Finding and briefing designers (UK)
Nov 27, 2014
Hi everyone,
I'm currently looking for a freelance designer/illustrator to work with me on developing some Storyline content for children and young people.
I always find it tricky to find someone who is familiar with rapid e-learning development. For some reason, lots of people that I have worked with before just can't get their heads around it!
So I was wondering - does anyone have good tips on how to work with and brief designers? Or does anyone have any good contacts or tips on where to look for someone?
Thanks!

Hey George!
For tips and tricks about working with Freelancers, you might be interested in checking out this detailed Freelancers forum discussion.

Hope this helps get you started :)
Hi George - I find this as well - I had started creating a "briefing" template - and struggled with it a bit. It seems to be more of a discovery process with each designer who is not familiar with e-learning.
I would love to see what others' do as I'm sure I could improve my process.
Hope that helps!
Holly
Nicole, thanks for the links.
Holly - I'm so glad it's not just me! That's really helpful, exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.
I guess the 'discovery process' can happen once I have contracted with someone - I think my problem is that I don't have the resources to work intensively with someone before we have decided that they are right for the project (if that makes sense!). However, I think the suggestion of linking to other examples and getting a list of assets will be a great help.
Thank you :)
Hi Ankit,
Thanks - however I am not looking for an e-learning developer - that is my role! I need a designer/illustrator to work with me on the visual styling.
Good luck in your future projects.
