Flash support & Storyline 2

Feb 14, 2019

Hi, I'm just wondering what I will need to do to make sure my courses authored in SL2, continue to work after flash becomes disabled ?

I can see that when you publish there's a HTML5 tick box to select when publishing, so can I assume that if this box is ticked, the course will still run ok when Flash stops ?

Are there any updates to SL2 that take account of this forthcoming change ?

Hello, Altan! That's a great question, and I'm happy to help clarify.

You asked, "I can see that when you publish there's a HTML5 tick box to select when publishing, so can I assume that if this box is ticked, the course will still run ok when Flash stops?"

The short answer is, yes!

If learners are using a browser without Flash and you marked the HTML5 option, they'll see the HTML5 output. Keep in mind the only browsers that support Storyline 2 HTML5 output are Chrome and Safari

We've been planning for the Flash phase-out, and that’s why Storyline 360 and Storyline 3 have HTML5-first or HTML5-only publishing options! That’ll make it easy for you to create e-learning that relies only on HTML5. You can read a bit more about our shift towards HTML5 here.

Let me know if you have more questions about that!
