Photoshop will open an eps file, it will ask you to specify the filesize you need. If I remember correctly microsoft word will open eps files, just drag it into a document and I think if you install ghostview and inksacpe you can open and edit the files
I guess then that it doesn't exist a program that can make vector graphics from an EPS file, unless that is possible in Photoshop? Ideally what I'm after is to use elements from a picture that is in .eps in a powerpoint. in the same way that one can ungroup a picture that is made in .WMF
I had heard this question previously and had heard of an Editor called Irfanview that was free. I have not used it nor do I know the link but I'm sure its easily googled. Let me know if that works out for you.
I downloaded it and I haven't got it to work for that purpose. I probably don't grasp the tool yet, so maybe it will pop up a solution later. Thank you anyway for the tip!
Well, if you are willing to spend a little bit, I'd look at Xara Designer Pro. It's my favorite graphics tool. If I had to use just one tool for graphics, this would be it.
There's a free vector illustration tool called inkscape that is supposed to be able to open eps files. I've tried the tool in the past and if I didn't have illustrator I'd definitely add it to my toolbox.

That's a free one that I use.
Had fun searching for it for you on Google just now!!!
Not sure if it can edit eps files though... sorry.
Thank you Chris. And wow, what a great forum, so much help in so little time, I hope I can contribute with something sensible one day too!
I think I have learned a lesson: I should be careful paying for images in .eps format.
FastStone Image Viewer 4.3 might be able to open them, but you will probably only be able to save it as another type of file. This is free as well.

It can import EPS files though I not tried it.
