Freeform objects - is this possible

Jun 28, 2017

HI

I want to build a course where a student has to fill an object i.e a vending fridge with soft drink, or a shelf full of kitchen items that is appealing to the eye and logical. I thought I could use the freeform tool so a student could drag the item to the fridge shelf or kitchen display. I don't want SL to mark the final design as it is down to a certain amount of interpretation, there is an ideal version but I want a interactive experience with drag and dropping items and seeing how things look rather than a right or wrong exercise. TO complicate matters the bottles/cans will be numerous so the student cannot gues that there is a space for 5 cans and their are only 5 cans so they must fit-there will be numerous cans/bottles so it is purely their own choice. I have attached a powerpoint to illustrate.

It will be possible, you need to do clever design of your images so they are all the same size and then line up correctly.

To make it easier I would be tempted to have individual items and then they drag one to the fridge shelf and it asks how many facings you would like, with a pop up menu with buttons that go up and down.

I am not sure how I would deal with too much on a shelf, perhaps just pop up a warning,

Use the freeform drag and drop even if you don't want to validate it in storyline as it gives more options.
