I have been experiencing some issues with French translation, which is uploaded from a .doc file into AS2. With this I have attached both .story (English version) and .doc (French translation) files for your advise and testing.
Could it be the typeface/font type/letters/word in the .doc file that is causing the issue?
It looks like the typeface/font you're using doesn't have all the necessary characters for French, so it's replacing them with other letters. The only way to resolve this issue is to select another typeface/font that does have those characters.
I have just tested by changing the font type in the .doc file from Arial CYR to Cambria (a more universal font type that is also available in Articulate Storyline 2). It worked!

Dear Allison,
Thank you for your prompt reply. Just to further clarify, the typeface/font should be selected in the .doc file itself, is this correct?
Thank you for your feedback.
