I am trying to break in to the Storyline world. Are there any open source or non-profits that need developers so that I can add more projects to my portfolio?
Designers for Learning is a non-profit organization that connects IDs with other non-profits. However, they focus more on design than development. I would suggest approaching your local non-profits to see if they need help. It's easier to form a relationship with someone you can speak to in person, which is especially important for your first gig.
One example of training you could develop- if you have a local food bank that receives funding from the USDA, they have to deliver civil rights training annually. I'm sure nonprofits would jump at the opportunity to make compliance training like that more engaging.
As someone in a similar position to Deanna, this is good to know! I definitely want to get some hands-on work with a nonprofit or two before trying to land paying clients, so I will reach out to my local food bank when that time comes.

Much appreciated,
