Has anyone ever changed the Player Menu Width?

Mar 05, 2020

Has anyone ever changed the Player Menu Width? Or know what published file to review (CSS/XML)? I've made some changes to the published html5/data/css/output.min.css file to change the location of some items in the player, but don't see any code related to controlling the width of the menu.  Any suggestions?

Hi Miles.

Welcome to the community!

When you create a new Storyline 360 project, the slide size defaults to 720 pixels wide by 540 pixels high, but you can change it to any size you'd like. You can view this tutorial for more information.

However, the overall size of your published course is a little bigger than your slide dimensions. The player adds up to 260 pixels to the width and up to 118 pixels to the height, depending on the player features you selected. Check out this article on how this is calculated.

Hope this helps!

Hi Miles,

It sounds like you'd like to modify the menu width after the fact by manipulating the code. Is that right? Since that's not something we support, I won't be able to help you out with that, but maybe there are some community members who have done that before who can!

Another option would be to make a tab on the top left or top right of the player instead of having it in the sidebar, so it wouldn't take up any space at all. Here's more info about how to do that.

I hope that's helpful! :)
