Having learners repeat quiz questions until they're all correct

Jun 02, 2015

I created a quiz format that makes learners need to repeat any questions they get wrong, going over them - potentially repeatedly - until they get them right. This seemed a good format for testing that learners had understood some basic concepts after a face to face session.

I noticed Storyline doesn't include this format and wondered whether this is because it's considered a bad idea from an instructional design POV.

If so, would anyone be able to help with a different solution to our need to record understanding of simple concepts? We use an LMS and we're a large organisation, and previously we had everyone (about 1000 people) sign forms to conform they'd got the gist of the F2F session.

Hi Katherine,

It can be achieved with help of a variable. Here is what you need to do:

You need submit, next, back and try again button for this. Go to question settings and set number of attempts to infinite.

Create a variable, say "enable next" with default value of "False".

1. On base layer, add this trigger:

Adjust variable > enable next > false > when timeline starts

2. On Correct layer, add this trigger:

Adjust variable > enable next > true > when timeline starts

3. On next button, add this trigger:

Jump to slide > next slide > when user clicks > if enable next is true
