I love the character in the Hitachi data systems course in articulate community showcase pages. I can draw well and would like to base my course on the character by drawing my own and importing into powerpoint- and aim for the same 'feel' as the design in the course. Is this an infringement of copyright or intellectual property. There's no name for me to ask if I can use him associated with the course and and HDS is a huge company to try and find the creator.
Does anyone know a contact or if I am able to copy him?
My course will be password protected in a university environment.
The Hitachi character is a stick figure. If you like stick figures, build your own and give it your own flair.
It's what all e-learning designers do: we see something cool, and then figure out how we can take the basic idea and make it our own. Really, every artist does this (musician, writer, etc.)
And by the way, if you dig stick figures, Randy Borum has created a number of them. Might help inspire you on. Randy's stick figures

That is most helpful - thank you!
And Sarra, please show us what you eventually come up with.
