Help Please

May 07, 2014

I've posted this on the Storyline Support side but I haven't had much luck there. So I thought I would try it here. I'm struggling with setting up a scenario involving a trailer with a series of valves. Depending on how the valves are turned it should adjust a variable then when the submit button is clicked it should show the appropriate layer.

What is happening now is that when I select the valves that should trigger the "3-point front pull" layer the "4-point layer" appears. The "3-point back pull" works correctly as does the 4-point trigger.

Here are the valves that should be clicked to have the correct layer show.

3-point front pull

3-point back pull

4-point

You'll notice I have several triggers that are "unassigned" to make it simpler I've deleted some of the layers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Cary, I don't have time to look at your project in detail right now but I did take a quick look and found that it has something to do with the order in which you click the buttons. I managed to get the correct response when I clicked in the order shown below.

But if I clicked them in the reverse order, I got the wrong feedback.

Hey Cary,

One thing is that the 3 Point back, front and 4 point pull variables are not getting reset if you retry it. They remain true and won't allow you to get another answer because of the condition you put on them. What I do when things are not working right is I display the variables on the slide to see what is getting triggered and it helps me isolate the problem.  Honestly I don't think those variable are necessary. I may have an incorrect idea of the overall picture but I would check the states of the valves when the user clicks on the submit button.  The trigger on the submit button is simply.

On Click Submit button

Show Layer: Correct

Conditions: Vertical Valve 4,7,16,...  is normal, rest is hidden.

I attached the file.  Another thought, it may not have been working because the variables remained true after the first attempt. Maybe reseting the variables when you click on the try again layers would work.
