HELP: Some functions not working when I publish my course
Nov 11, 2016
Hi all,
I am currently having an issue with my e-learns when I publish them. They will not link out to other sites, allow my videos to play (they work when I have the option selected for them to play automatically, but if I enable the player or have the video open in a new browser the feature doesn't work) if they are embedded into slide, and also the exit course feature doesn't work.
I believe this may have something to do with how I publish to the course. Currently, my company is in the process of switching to a new LMS and I do not have access to it yet. As a work around in the interim, I will publish my courses to a folder, the trainees will have access to this folder, and will just open the HTML file, or their trainers will send them the link. Is there a way I can publish this in the interim so these features will work?

What publish setting are you using? LMS? Web? CD?
Also, where is the folder? Traditional server? Sharepoint?
Hi Owen,
I am using the web publishing setting and the folder is located on our company server. All of the trainees have access to that folder too but some functions in the training don't work. Would SharePoint be a better option?
I've sometimes had better success publishing as a CD when placing in a folder on a server. Try that 1st.
SharePoint might work better but it can be tricky. Your success would depend a great deal on what functionality is turned on & off in SharePoint and what level of access you have. It works great for me as I have limited admin access and can modify pages directly through SharePoint Designer. This allows me to just drag and drop from my published folder straight into a folder on SharePoint. Then, all I have to share is a link to the story.html page.
Owen,
Thanks for the info. I tried publishing to CD and the players still do not work when I link the video to an e-mail. Is there a better way to go about sending a file that is published to CD via e-mail??
Can you email it to me so I can see the behavior?
Or post an example .story file here with similar behaviors as your course?
I sure can. Do you want to message me your e-mail and I will send it your way?
