Help with finding Vendors

Hi all,

I work at a university and our dept will be creating non credit online courses and selling them to corporate clients.

We want a vendor who can -

Host the courses

Payment processing

Tech support 24/7

Metering ( since we will sell the course per seat we want to find a vendor who can cap off a particular course say when 50 seats are filled as we have sold only 50 seats to our clients. We want the vendor or the LMS to have this capability. i hope I have been able to explain it the way its should be.

Kindly suggest some vendors and if there is a website which compares a few of them and you could point me towards it, it would be great.

Hey Sid,

Check out a company called 'General Physics'.  I used to work there as a 'Training Coordinator' and I was an admin for their customers LMS's.

  • Host the courses - Webinar type courses or online courses? or Online Courses? - This is something an LMS can do as well.  We use Plateau/SuccessFactors as our LMS and use WebEx for Webinar/Instructor led courses and have an FTP site that hosts our online courses that are available through the LMS.
  • Payment Processing - Some LMS's have a payment feature built in (we do not use it in ours, so I do not know how it works)
  • Tech Support 24/7 - Is this support for the users or the admins?  an LMS provider might be able to provide this (for a fee of course)
  • Metering - this can be built into an LMS
