How did I get into this loop?

Jul 06, 2017

Hi there,

I get a bit desperate, cause I can't seem to find out, how I got and how I resolve the loop I got in. I just would like the learner to click Marker 1 on base layer in order to get to the next layer and so on. I don't get why it doesn't go the the last layer. Last layer I would like Lily back on the screen, explaining "Hinweis auf ZEK".

Sure, it's a very stupid beginner fault I did. Isn't it?
Thanks in advance an regards Roland

Hi Roland,

Unfortunately, I can't open your file since you are using Storyline 360 (I use Storyline 2), but I'm guessing that either the marker is not on top of the graphic (i.e. in the timeline, the marker should appear above the graphic) or else something is wrong with the marker's trigger. If you can save your project as an SL2 file and upload it, I can take a look. Otherwise, perhaps someone with SL360 can help you out here.

Cheers,

Anne

Hi Roland,

Take a look at the attached revised file. I'm not sure if it's what you're going for, but I found that the most elegant solution was to split the software simulation into two slides, rather than starting at the base layer, going through three layers, then back to the base layer.

In the original file, it was actually going to the last layer, but those objects didn't start until 7 seconds into the last layer's timeline (not the base layers timeline). That was part of the issue, and then you had no way to "escape" the third layer on screen.

If that's not what you're looking to do, just let me know and I can take another look.

Cheers,

Allison

Hi Roland

see if the attached update to your file works for you. I added a hide layer trigger to each layer when the user clicks the marker, I moved the final layer objects to the front of the timeline as they were starting 7 seconds in and then fading out at 10 seconds and I hid the 'welcome' caption on the final layer so only the blue click here caption displays.

hope that helps

Hi Wendy.

Excellent, Gotta get a grip on concentrating a bit more. Sometimes I try something - like setting timeline start of layer "Hinwei auf ZEK" to 7 sec - and then I forget to reset it. Fascinating how articulate offers many ways to get to a goal.

Anyway, Thanks again, I'm all set and wish you a nice weekend

Roland
