How to make Storyline look "professional"

Jun 15, 2017

Hey guys, I am relatively new to Storyline and I was just hoping to maybe get some feedback. I have been working on a project in storyline for the last week or so, however I still feel like it doesn't really have one consistent theme and there is kind of a lack of "professionalism" throughout the training. Does anybody have advice or quick tips on how to make something just look overall more put together? Thanks!

The answer really depends on how you view content, and your goals.

There is no set definition of professional elearning unfortunately. On one end of the spectrum, people put out Powerpoint slides and call it e-learning (organizational view of content), on the other, you have pure scenario-based experiences (an activity-based view of content).

If you're dealing with straight content and basic compliance quizzes, I suggest the 360 templates. They're clean, use a grid system, and will keep you consistent. Your audience will appreciate a consistent design, a lot.

If your goal is a more custom engaging experience, the sky is the limit—but that's a design problem (at the whiteboard or with paper and pencil) ... not a tool problem.

If your team is new to elearning, start with the templates Articulate provides. Then, if your goals change, investigate more complex examples out there. Create a swipe file of experiences that engage you. Maybe one will fill a need.

Best,
Ryan
