I have also used two sliders (connected by their slider variables) to pan a wide image and then click a region to zoom in to that region on its own layer. This very crude demo shows the principle, using an aerial view of an airport and four 'zoomed' regions..

Is there a way to control how much zoom is added so as to not have the area zoom to full page?
Hi Trevor, I am afraid not. zoom region zoom the selected portion to Full page view. You can achieve that manually though.
