Index for learning centre

Apr 07, 2020

Hi all,

I am working on a simulation and need to create a learning centre. Essentially the rest of the simulation is to create the motivation for learners to learn about different hazards they may need to manage in the workplace, and the learning centre has the information they need to succeed in the simulation.

I would appreciate some feedback on the approach I have taken. There are a lot of triggers, but I feel it is a very logical approach that is easily maintainable/expandable by someone else (please let me know if it is not!).

I have achieved the interaction by making the index letters a button set and changing the state of the individual hazard buttons to active/inactive as the relevant letter is selected.

Each of the individual hazard buttons links to a layer with a web object displaying the relevant pages of a PDF.

Many thanks for your help on this.

Awesome learning centre, Daniel! Your use of triggers and clean design makes it easy to navigate. I also like how you consistently used web objects for each item. One thing to think about when you’re using web objects is whether or not your learners will be able to access them. Sometimes, companies have security settings that block certain websites. You may have already thought about that, but I thought I’d mention it in case you hadn’t. 😊 Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks for the feedback Sarah! I am glad the design works for you.

You are right about linking to web objects. As originally planned the simulation was to be an integrated part of a course, with learners accessing the course and the linked document on our LMS. However, before I have even finished it others in the company want to take out the simulation and have it as a stand alone piece, so I will have to think about how learners will link to the document.
