Instructional Designer Job Opportunity at Sunrun in San Francisco

Mar 22, 2014

Sunrun is seeking a dynamic, talented Instructional Designer to help grow our leadership position in the fledgling Solar Services industry.  The position is responsible for design, development, and production of training for multiple audiences inside and outside the company.

The position will interact with most departments within the company while developing training on our products and processes.  A major audience for the training will be sales organizations — both internal and external, so an understanding of the selling process is key.

This position within Sunrun has the opportunity to change the way that people power their homes.  Solar Services is a new, exciting industry that is moving solar systems (the kind on the roof, not the kind revolving around the sun) into the mainstream.  You’ll be on the forefront of redefining how solar is perceived, and proliferating solar in the market.

Who We Are
Sunrun is on a mission to make solar energy affordable for more people.  We help people upgrade their home to solar energy without the big upfront costs.  Instead, we purchase solar facilities for our homeowners and sell them electricity under long-term contracts. We guarantee electricity production; if anything breaks or needs repair, we fix it; and we provide proactive, reliable real-time monitoring.

We are very well funded, having raised ample corporate funds from Accel Partners and Foundation Capital as well as project financing from US Bancorp.

- Develop and/or manage the development of training materials that define Sunrun training as best-in-class

- 3+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development and/or education
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design/technology
- Must have proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities
- Excellent verbal and writing skills required
- Must be able to work with SMEs and translate audience goals into effective training material
- Understanding of Sales is highly desirable
- Solar background is a plus, but not necessary
- Experience developing both ILT and (synchronous and asynchronous) distance learning
