Interactive Game Help

Sep 22, 2015

I want to create an interactive US map for a group game. I am envisioning the first slide to say to the presenter of the game "Pick which US state you want to be the correct answer for your next question".  The presenter would choose and then the next slide would be set for that US state to show as correct once clicked.  Then the presenter would start over and choose another US state for the next question.

Example:  I want Ohio to be the correct answer for a question I am going to ask the group so I tell the game to make that state the correct one.  I ask the group the question and a person from the group comes up and picks which state they think the answer is and storyline will display it as correct if it's Ohio.

I think this is possible using variables but want ask the best rout to take in creating this or if an interaction template would work.

Hi Donna,

This sounds very doable as a Freeform "Pick Many" question. You'll need to chop up each state into a separate graphic so that Storyline can tell the difference between them. I'd also recommend adding a hover state that's a lighter or different colour so you can tell where you are.

Once all of your graphics are in place, go to the Insert tab and select Convert to Freeform, then Pick Many. Then you just need to add each of your states in the Form view and select the one you want to be correct.

The only thing I can see being a little time consuming is if you'd like a different answer each time, you'll need to duplicate this slide for as many states as you'd like to select. But as long as you build all of the functionality first, this shouldn't be too hard.

For a more detailed guide on how this works, check out this guide: https://community.articulate.com/series/5/articles/converting-an-existing-slide-to-a-freeform-interaction

Hope that helps :)
