Interactive timeline example
Aug 11, 2020
Hi I was working on a Rise module which required a lengthy timeline of events to be included for the user to view. There were around 20 specific events to be shown so I came up with the idea of creating an interactive component developed in SL and brought into Rise as a Storyline block. I also put a completed course trigger on the last time event in SL which triggered a conditional continue in the Rise module.
Here is what the interactive timeline looks like. In this example I used multiple layers for each event as it allows for supporting images/video/audio to be display on each of the layers, however just as easy to use variables to change the text (if text only based timeline) when the dial is turned instead of using layers. Cheers Gerry

Hi Gerry - this is great! Would it be possible to share the Storyline file with us? I'd love to edit it to fit one of my upcoming projects as I've never been able to get the dang dials to move as well as yours does! Thanks, Cheryl
I have attached a copy of the SL file so you can use. cheers Gerry
Hi Cheryl, I have now uploaded a copy of the source SL file which you can download and edit. Cheers Gerry
Thank you!!
This is so cool, Gerry. Thanks for sharing it with the community!
Thanks Trina.

Hi Trina I have noticed this a couple of times now, why do I get these grayed out comments and a line which says removed by the author when I know I didn't remove them? I have added a screen-capture. Thanks
Hi Gerry! When it says removed by the author, it's been removed by the person who wrote the comment. I assume Probik and Narissa actually removed their comments.
Ah thanks Sarah, I wasn't sure if it was referring to me as being the original author of the post, and I had somehow inadvertently deleted the comment. :)
I hear you, Gerry! I can totally see why with it saying 'author' in both places. Just to add to the other comments (and this one will not be removed 😉)...nice job on your example!
Thanks so much Sarah :)
