Is this a template?

May 06, 2014

Hello, I am looking for a template with this design.

I'm sure that this is made with storyline (articulate presenter 09), but is this a template?

Are these images of a template from storyline?

Thanks.

I honestly have no idea. In theory, this could have been built in Powerpoint and published via Presenter but it makes absolutely no sense as all elements would be static. It would take a lot of work to have this recreated and the benefits of using that instead of the player are next to zero.

The screenshot (which for some reason I can't view right now) contains some sort of menu with a progress bar, but that would also be static (if it was made in PPT). The same applies to slide/page numbering at the bottom right. Also, it goes without saying that you won't be able to insert quizzes there that are graded unless you use Quizmaker or something similar.

|In other words, if this is a PPT "template" and you were to insert another page/section in the middle of the course then you would have to make the following edits : Edit all menus on all slides, edit the progress bar on all slides (increments of 25% now become increments of 20%), edit all page numbers on all slides, edit the content on this slide. What you are left with (that doesn't change) is a couple of images here and there. That certainly doesn't classify as a template in my book...

If I had to make a guess, I'd say it is an older Flash or flash/xml template, but again I can't be sure.

Hi Alan,

Where did your screen shots come from? Do you have a published example of this design that you could share?

The metadata would likely solve the question of where it came from more conclusively than looking at just a screenshot.

I agree with Tim and Alexandros that this is highly unlikely to be from either Storyline or Articulate Studio. To me, it looks like some stuff I've seen created in Trivantis' Lectora authoring tools, or very similar to courseware I've seen come from the folks at Skillsoft, but I have no idea what they used there.

If you can share a zip file of the the published course that your screenshot came from, we should be able to get a better look at how it was built and potentially even the name of the authoring tool.
