Issue with slider/trigger

Nov 18, 2016

I'm a new user working through the tutorials. I created a sample slide for sliders and can't get the picture to change with the steps on the slider. The first one worked but the second picture doesn't appear. I've uploaded the file and would greatly appreciate some guidance with what I'm doing wrong. Initially, I tried creating layers for each picture but that didn't work at all for me. Thanks in advance!!

Hi Lucy, in your case you should use layers and you don't need to change states since they will all in different layers. All you need to do is to set triggers to show different layers when slide moves. Check out the attached and take a look on changes I made in your file.

Hi Joanne,

Thanks so much! It's working well with layers. I have a second question
related to markers. I have a standard marker that I wanted to turn into an
icon. On the Bicycle layer, I tried inserting a textbox and adding the icon
but I can't control where it appears on the screen (I'd like it above the
upper right side of the photo). When I tried moving it, the label
disappeared completely. Also, is there any easy way to slightly enlarge the
marker? I'm going to include the same marker for each of the 8 layers (with
different information in the label area). Is there a way just to create the
marker with icon once, and then copy/paste it? One more thing - the pulse
effect looks weird with the icon. Better to eliminate it?? I've attached
the file. Thanks a bunch for your help!!

Hi Lucy,

I saw you add a picture as an icon of the marker and made the marker transparently, which is an easy way to make the marker looks enlarged. The reason you can't move it is because you don't group up the pic-icon and marker. Once you group them up then you will be able to move them as a group object and then copy and paste to the other layers. To elimate the pause effect of a marker, you can chang its animate in the FORMAT pannel. But I will suggest a swirl might be a better choice in your case to draw users' attention to the marker.
