Job Posting - eLearning Developer Needed - freelancer
Dec 24, 2013
Hello Everyone,
Our company's mission is to save lives. We want everyone to have the knowledge and skills to survive when shots are fired. By training as many people as possible and implementing training in drill form in the K-12 setting, we can accomplish that.
The threat of an active shooter attack is rare but very real. We aim to eradicate the “It can’t happen to me” mentality and change the way people in schools, universities, businesses, hospitals and places of worship respond to armed intruders. At the ALICE Training Institute, we believe everyone deserves access to life-saving options.
Right now our training is all classroom based. We are in the process of adding eLearning to our training options but need an eLearning Developer.
We our looking for someone to design and develop eLearning training modules which will include knowledge checks and formal assessments. The majority of the content already exists and we have an existing image library. We would like the lessons to be approximately 20 minutes long. Nothing has been developed at this time.
Please email me if you would be interested in working as a freelancer for our company.

Sue,
I guess you are looking for someone US-based for this, because of the subject matter - or is that not the case?
Wishing you luck in this endeavour, I am sure you will get some great people contacting you.
Hi Bruce,
Yes we are looking for someone US based....thanks for asking that question. I should have posted that in my original post!
As a k12 teacher I would love to see this when you get the storyline done.
Hello Sue --
I have many years experience in the areas of live instructor-led training in software, hardware, and soft skills. For the past 12 years I have been an instructional designer and have developed eLearning pieces and courses for start-ups and major players in eCommerce and enterprise class software development. I have taught all ages in classrooms, online, and through distributed courseware.
I have an interest, and have worked with some startups in the area of real-time response to emergency situations in public spaces, so it was with a keen interest that I saw your posting about developing eLearning in this area.
I am attaching a resume to stimulate discussion. Please let me know how I might follow up with you.
Best Regards

Hi Sue!
I just emailed my resume to you. I'm a former educator developing eLearning with Storyline, SMART Board training for teachers and web design.
From a K-12 perspective, your organization provides a very critical service. As a teacher of students at risk I received similar training. You are smart to provide interactive, scenario based eLearning both as a supplement to your on-site training as well as a resource for participants to refer to. I hope I hear from you!
