Learning Management Systems--- Confused and Perplexed

Feb 10, 2015

Hi everyone!

I am a doctor with no background in online learning.  I am putting together a course for my students using Articulate Online.  To my dismay it seems that I have to individually invite them to each module.  I have 9 modules so I have to send 9 invites.  I was certain that I was doing something wrong but the articulate support desk said that there is no way to invite people to multiple modules.  Hmm.  Then I tried coursesites.com but when I invite my students it is too confusing for them.  Can anyone give me advice of which LMS is good for a small project like this?  It needs to be very simple for both the admin (me) and the students.  Thank you so much for any advice you can give me.  I really love Articulate Online.  It is simple for me to use.  If there is a trick to inviting people to all of the modules please let me know.  That is the easiest solution for me.

Hello, Leslie!

Although I'm sure other people may be able to offer very specific advice on the scenario you presented, you also might want to know about the following, just in case you haven't been aware of these resources:

1) The master list of LMS threads on the E-Learning Heroes site

2) Capterra consulting, the organization that offers free, expert assistance with selecting an LMS that fits your needs (browse their list of LMS software)

I hope these suggestions are helpful!

Hi Leslie,

If you're looking for an affordable, easy to use LMS that's suitable for both small and large projects I suggest you try out LearnUpon.

We offer a free 30 day trial which you can sign up for here. Alternatively you could drop us an email at hello@learnupon.com with your system requirements we'd be happy to let you know if LearnUpon will meet your LMS needs.

Best of luck with your LMS search!

Hi Leslie,

It's been a loooong time since I peeked at Articulate Online, but I think they used to have an enrollment key/profile feature where you could pre-assign courses based on a shared attribute.

Maybe the tech support folks didn't understand quite understand what you needed (vs what you were asking for). Or maybe I'm all wrong (as my wife will surely agree!).  But either way, I might suggest posting on the Articulate Online All Products forum and ask if there is a way to group enrollments.
