I'm working on my first 508 compliant course and I have a question - Does locking the Previous and Next buttons per slide until all interactions are done considered not 508 compliant?
I initially made them free so the users can skip anytime, also added a keyboard shortcut to let them advance (left and right arrow keys). Our previous courses are always locked so in this case, there's a chance that the client will request to lock the navigation as well.
You may need to add a secondary navigation to remain compliant. A navigation feature that's only available if you are using a screen reader or using the keyboard for navigation. I make mine a button and text box off screen so as to not confuse the masses.

Thanks, David!
So, in short, locking the previous and next buttons isn't compliant? I just need to know so that I can explain to my project manager and clients.
Great tip, by the way!
That part I would need to research... I know it is good instructional design when used appropriately. :)
