Looking for a Non-LMS Solution...

Mar 31, 2014

I work in higher ed and we're being asked to help with a research project.  Our nursing department is creating training videos and for that they want to gather demographic, pre, and post-test information from nurses actively working in hospitals.  We use Desire2Learn as our LMS, but they want to be able to do all of this outside of an LMS but still gather the info electronically.  We have Captivate, but the option to send results via email either doesn't exist anymore or doesn't work like I remember.  Can anyone give me any other solutions to this problem?

Correct, the email quiz results function is no longer available in Captivate. There used to be a "Results Analyzer" widget, see here for info (although I'm not 100% sure if this is still supported in the latest CP version). There are third-party widgets for emailing quiz results (see here) and here is another (paid) widget that allows you to use GoogleDocs as a "kind-of" LMS.

Also, you might want to re-post your question in a forum dedicated to Captivate

Are you looking to launch the course outside an LMS or just send some data out of it? It was not really clear.

If the data you want to send out is non-identifiable then this is doable as Mike & Steve point out.

If you want to send out names you will likely face an additional issue, in the event you are launching the course itself outside the LMS as well. I am referring to user validation. It would be unfortunate if user "Bob the Builder"  or "Test" was part of the data you gather.
