Hey, Raymond, I don't think any of the suggested things would work, because the timelines are not synced. You have zero information about when the user finishes watching a youtube video.
What I would suggest is the following:
1) Have a button "I have watched the video" appear after the time equal to the duration of the video has passed (or maybe a few seconds more). This could probably cover about 90 % of user cases.
2) Download the video, insert it in SL and provide a link to the original. This way you can control exactly whats going on.

You could use timeline triggers i.e. when timeline reaches xx seconds or cue point #x or when timeline ends. Or you could use when media finishes.
